Chelsea Clinton's date brought her here all the way from Oxford just to impress her - and who could fault him? The modern Italian menu here is of a very high order, while the elegant and comfortable dining room with its glass ceiling that retracts in warm weather, leather banquettes and hushed sophistication is just right for an evening out. There is, of course, the traditional Italian warm welcome and pride of service. Il Convivio has been a quiet favourite with local politicos and celebrities for some time. What's cooking? Try black spaghetti with fresh lobster and spring onions, or stuffed leg of rabbit wrapped in pancetta with aubergine caviare.
