Superchef Marcus Wareing's restaurant in London's Knightsbridge brings the best of the heavenly old Michelin starred Pétrus and adds some delightful new twists. First, Wareing himself describes the kitchen as 'a cook's dream' and we can only be grateful that the man has an appropriately wonderful place in which to work his culinary magic. Go see for yourself - a chef's table of eight can be booked right in the heart of the kitchen. The decor, by David Collins, incorporates rich claret reds of the eponymous wine with opulent fittings, including impressive French blinds and big abacuses to use in figuring out your bill. Petrus' food, well, words do fail. The lobster Arnold Bennett is a new take on a classic dish. The sweetbreads are now accompanied by almonds, red radishes and almond and amaretto velouté. The menu also includes dishes like carpaccio of foie gras with girolles, diced mango and sweet and sour vinaigrette with truffle toast.
