Part of a listed building that once housed St Giles Library Shanghai Blues is a stunning feng-shui designed Chinese restaurant and bar. Its £2.5 million launch cost included a one-way flight from China for head chef Hong Qiu Feng who has created a generous and innovative menu that makes you want to eat everything on it. Moreish entrees include steamed scalloped dumplings and grilled Shanghai pork dumplings, while an exciting list of mains - including vegetable and tofu sections - allows you to choose how your main ingredient is cooked. Lobster, for example, can be classic wok-braised, steamed or dry fried in a variety of sauces. Extend your chae knowledge with an intriguing list of Chinese teas complemented by a lunchtime selection of divine dim sum. Beautifully designed, friendly and serving an excellent menu, Shanghai Blues just might be the new Hakkasan.
