The Spice of Hampstead opened back in 1995 following the success of the still popular Cinnamon Spice near Baker Street. Like its sister restaurant, it's a rather lovely neighbourhood-feel space with bright, light and modern white walls and wooden floors. Plain cutlery and elegant wooden chairs nod to the traditional.
Specialties include a hot chicken haryali and lamb chop tandoori (a dry dish), accompanied by a glass of the house white or a nice pinotage from an interesting international list of 11 whites and 11 reds. Friendly waiters are dressed in a shirt and tie, while the waitress wears a traditional shalwar kameez. Best tables are either by the window or near the bar.
