Lightship restaurant is the oldest surviving lightship in the world, built in 1877, with a long history of service and adventure (including being captured by Germans), now beautifully refurbished and given new life and docked hard by Tower Bridge as one of London's most uniquely intriguing dining venues. The old wood of the hull has been restored and is offset in a very pleasing way by the sleek modernism of the decor, the gleaming silver and stemware. This is both luxurious and informal, and fine for romance. Why not start your evening with half a dozen oysters or smoked salmon on the top deck, push the boat (!) out and enjoy a fantastic meal in the main restaurant. Thursday nights 7 - 10pm.e"
