Elephant Royale - Gants Hill

It's true that you get what you pay for. If it's authentic royal Thai cuisine of the highest quality you're after, then allow Elephant Royale to give your local, soggy Thai a run for its money. While not as well located as its Docklands sibling, it still offers an authentic Siamese theatre. The dining room is reached by a small bridge over a stream filled with colourful Koi Carp. There's even a waterfall. Add the plants, imported artefacts and traditionally-dressed waiting staff and the Elephant Royale makes quite an impression. Happily, so does the food. All the tempting Thai classics are here - tom yum soup, spicy salads, chicken satay, red, yellow and green curries, pad thai... To get a real taster go on a Sunday when you can choose from tens of buffet dishes. Live music on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
