A particularly smart and airy branch of the popular Italian chain, popular for its funky basement cocktail lounge serving fresh fruit cocktails before a meal or for relaxing/partying after it. The ground floor is a large restaurant, crowded with locals and families by day and buzzy by night. Best seats in the house are the nice big round tables looking down over high street. What's there to eat? Traditional dishes like bruschetta, spaghetti Bolognese and tasty wood-fired pizzas (the chicken pepperonata is a hit), and for the adventurous weekly meat and fish a la carte chef's specials. Most tempting dessert award goes to the choux bun - a large profiterole case filled with white Belgian choc chip ice cream and smothered in a hot choc fudge sauce. Predominantly Italian wine list.
