Near the university buildings of the old town, the Cambridge Slug & Lettuce is a jolly cosy affair, twinkling with lots of candles by night, pleasantly green by day thanks to a multitude of living pot plants. The entrance is dominated by an immaculate 15m zinc-topped bar behind which lie neat rows of wines and spirits. Round the corner is a dining area and beyond it an inviting lounge area where, on weekdays, students, office workers and tourists can be found tucking into a tuna steak or a duck wrap. Weekends attract a very social crowd of 20 and 30-somethings who often return on Sunday to cure their hangover with a beef roast and hair of the dog.
