The Slug and Lettuce - Winchester

The Slug occupies two storeys of a grade II listed building in the Square, a particularly picturesque corner of the city overlooking Winchester Cathedral. A mixed bag of locals love to people watch from the big bay windows on the ground floor; it's very relaxing. A large central staircase leads to a bigger bar and dining area - part modern conservatory, part old fireplace, sash windows and leather sofas. Above and beyond the obvious smart comfort of the place, people come here for the big menu - you could eat here all week and eat something different every day. The duck wrap and classic house burger are really popular. Nachos are brilliant for sharing. Friday and Saturday nights, however, are all about the drinks.
