The advantage of a chain pub is you know exactly what you're going to get. Whereas Lloyds Bar sat opposite it in the Omni Centre yells 'party!', the Slug & Lettuce says 'chill.' Its big leather sofas, affordable cocktails, nice food and table service attract an informal crowd of 20 to 50-year-olds, sometimes older when the Royal Lyceum theatre next door has shows on. The menu offers an easy selection of nibbles (crispy crab claws), specialty sandwiches (ham and brie), wraps, platters, and hearty mains like tuna served on sautéed pak choi and potatoes, and lamb casserole with dumplings. The ever-popular Sunday roasts include a veggie nut roast option.
