At the centre of the California Chalet and Touring Park site is Longmoor Lake. The lake was dug out in the 19th century for brick making, and the area was then developed into one of the first holiday camps in Britain.
The park is full of interesting history, and you are encouraged to explore the local area and go up over the heathland which is now a protected site. Boardwalk paths have been laid out for ease of access and to protect fragile surfaces. There is plenty to see, wonderful varieties of fauna and flora including orchids and autumn toadstools, you may even be lucky enough to see deer or even a woodpecker.
The park boasts excellent facilities including a cafe and restuarant which are open seven days a week for your convenience. Parking is free except weekends and holidays when a modest fee is charged.
