Bala itself sits on the edge of Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales, in unspoilt scenery encircled by the Berwyn, Arans and Arenig mountain ranges. Steeped in history the town offers restaurants, inns and a small railway. Bala Lake is an International Centre for watersports where sailing, canoeing and windsurfing are popular, with excellent fishing also on offer.
