Carreglwyd Camping and Caravan Park is superbly located right next to the beach at Port Eynon. The park covers approximately 12 acres and caters for motorhomes, tents, trailer tents and touring caravans. The park has a range of facilities including modern sanitary blocks with toilets, hot showers, washbasins, laundry and washing up facilities. They also provide a small onsite shop stocking a wide range of camping accessories and basic food items.
Port Eynon is steeped in history and is believed to have been named after a Welsh Prince from the 11th century called Eynon. It is thought that he built Port Eynon castle, which has disappeared over the years. Port Eynon is the most southerly point of Gower and used to have a booming oyster fishing trade. The old harbour wall and remains of the oyster pools can still be seen today at low tide.
There is a lot to see in this historic village including Port Eynon Bay, which is one of the most popular bays on Gower. From the bay you can walk east to The Cove, Hornton or west to Salthouse Mere.
