Edinburgh International Festival

The Edinburgh International Festival is one the world's greatest celebrations of classical music, opera, theatre and dance, and attracts audiences from around the world. It offers people the unique opportunity to experience live performances from internationally renowned artists as well as being a hotspot for new and alternative works.

Presented in six major theatres and concert halls, plus a number of smaller venues, the three week Edinburgh International Festival has been promoting the arts since 1947. It's original intention was to provide 'a platform for the flowering of the human spirit', and many would agree that it has repeated this success every year since.
