Bawdsey Manor

Bawdsey Manor is a large and beautiful house, set in 150 acres of historic parkland overlooking the Deben Estuary in Suffolk. The location is outstanding, close to the river and the sea; the property is surrounded by classic Suffolk scenery - boats, birdlife, reedy marshes and tranquil pebble beaches. This historic Park and woodland offer endless opportunities for exploration whilst the landscape of the Suffolk coast will entice you further.

The Manor provides facilities for courses and conferences as well and bed and breakfast accommodation. Adult groups are welcome here and young people, too. The Manor can accommodate up to 50 people and there are student residences on the estate for larger groups. People have come to Bawdsey Manor to make music, to paint or to sculpt, to study our flora and fauna or the geology of the Suffolk Sandlings. There is much of historic interest, too. Nearby Sutton Hoo, the castle at Orford and Framlingham are all described in more detail on other pages here. Briton's famous concert hall at Snape Maltings is a short drive from here.

The property is licensed by Suffolk County Council as a venue for Civil Marriages and other ceremonies. The Great Hall is an enchanting venue for concerts and private parties. We offer traditional, country-house style bedrooms; many with stunning views, whilst large parties can overspill into other houses on the estate.
