The left bank is well known for serving delicious home cooking from breakfast 'til supper in a comfortable, inviting bar and kitchen. Using seasonal and local produce wherever possible the extensive menus include bar snacks, smoothies, cocktails, coffees, brunch, lunch, all day mains and an evening menu as well as a prix fixe menu and extensive range of wines available by the glass.
Newly opened in the summer of 2006, the Left Bank is a welcomed addition to Gibson Street. Left Bank also used local materials in its construction, which is stylish without feeling over the top. Steel complements stone; mute and earthy tones bring warmth; a clutch of original detailing mixes with industrial chic; timbers of different woods round out the materials. Some sharp angles but few hard edges.
The food is second to none. The menu ranges from tapas including home-fried yellow corn chips and lemon and pea pilaf to evening main courses such as Goan Masala seafood in a coconut and squash vindaloo.
