The only secular stone structure to survive both The Fire of London and the Blitz, the Guildhall has been the centre of City government since the middle ages. Steeped in history, this wonderful hall is one of the largest civic halls in England.
This imposing medieval hall contains a wealth of excellent architecture with stained glass windows and several monuments to national heroes including Admiral Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Sir Winston Churchill. The site also contains an excellent gallery and beneath Guildhall lie the largest medieval crypts in London.
Free to the public the Guildhall is a great heritage site and still plays an important role in the City, providing a venue for state and civic banquets.
