Majestic Snowdon dominates the glorious, ancient landscape of North Wales. At 3,560ft (1085m) it is a true mountain and a place of legend - said to be the burial place of the giant ogre Rhita, vanquished by King Arthur. The Snowdon Mountain Railway has been making it easy to scale this awesome mountain peak since 1896. In a tremendously ambitious feat of engineering, and uniquely in Britain, a rack and pinion railway was built which rises to within 66ft of the summit of the highest mountain in England and Wales.

Your Journey begins at Llanberis Station at the foot of Snowdon. Enjoy an awe-inspiring 13-minute virtual journey 'To the Summit of Snowdon' in the new Film Theatre at Llanberis Station. Then board your train to travel through woodland, across an impressive viaduct before starting the long haul up to the ridge and onto the mountain itself. On fine days the views from the train and summit are breathtaking.

The view from the top takes in the Isle of Man and the Wicklow mountains in Ireland. During the 30-minute stay at the peak, you can simply savour the views or make use of the summit facilities. Then begin your descent, arriving back at Llanberis. This award winning attraction makes for an informative and enjoyable day out for the whole family.
