Allensford Caravan And Camping Park is a large field surrounded by deciduous trees adjacent to a little stream. Statics surround the perimeter of the site with tents and caravans placed in lines in the middle, with plenty of room between them.
There is a shop and friendly owners (nothing is too much trouble). Allensford Park is adjacent and well equipped Municipal Park it has high slides, zip wire etc. A popular location with many local caravanners travelling only a few miles to get to the site and staying nearly every weekend.
This is a popular park site so pre-booking essential in high season. You can also paddle in the river Derwent. Several woodland walks start from the park. On Saturday night there is was a karaoke and disco.
Places to visit include: Durham City (20mins), Metrocentre (30mins), Derwent walk (10 mins), Derwent Reservoir (10mins) and Consett (10mins)
