The Museum of Science and Industry is situated in one of the world's oldest railway stations, Liverpool Road Station.
The museum hosts a range of fifteen galleries and permanent exhibitions, which are not only informative but hands on, and great fun for all ages. The permanent exhibitions include the Air & Space Gallery; Out of This World, a space gallery with interactive computer displays and simulations; the Making of Manchester, an exhibition about the city and it's industrial heritage; Xperiment, a hands-on science centre with awesome special effects; and Underground Manchester, a walk through Manchester's Victorian Sewer system, complete with sounds and smells to provide an authentic feel.
The Museum of Science and Industry contains a café where visitors can enjoy a drink and a light snack. The gift shop is an excellent place to purchase memorabilia from your trip.
