Further Information: Fort Augustus Village is at the southern end of Loch Ness and was originally built as a barracks after the Jacobite Rebellion. The village is split in two by Telfords Canal which follows the Great Glen all the way between Fort William and Inverness. The Chalet Park is situated on the great Glenn Way approximately half way between the two. In the heart of the Highlands, Fort Augustus is the ideal base for visiting local attractions as well as being central to the remainder of the Highlands. The village itself has a good choice of restaurants, bars and shops. There are loads of local attractions for the whole family to enjoy.
