Inverness Museum & Art Gallery

Inverness Museum and Art Gallery is located in the heart of Inverness City Centre, above the Tourist information Centre in the shadow of Inverness Castle.

The extensive permanent exhibition explores many aspects of the handmade and natural environment of Inverness and the surrounding Highlands. It is an extravaganza of natural history, archaeology and local history including Pictish stones, Highland wildlife, Jacobite memorabilia, authentic Highland weapons and bagpipes as well as an array of Scottish contemporary art.

The museum also offers lunchtime talks and recitals, activities for children and adults, and the Discovery Centre which offers over a thousand interesting artefacts available for you to see and handle. The Inverness Museum & Art Gallery shop has a selection of traditional and unusual gifts, souvenirs and books and there is also the museum cafe serving refreshments.
