St Davids Cathedral was built upon the site of St David's 6th century monastery and has been a site of pilgrimage and worship for many hundreds of years and remains a church serving a living community to this day. Not only the people of the parish of St Davids but also by all who find peace in this place of prayer and devotion represent this community.
There are guided tours available for groups booking in advance. The group size can be almost anything but for numbers in excess of about fifty, depending on ages, groups may split into two or more groups so that all are able to see and hear what the guide is talking about.
Every year for nine days in May and June the cathedral holds a feast of classical music at the St Davids Cathedral Festival under the direction of Timothy Noon, the cathedral organist. The perfect acoustic and stunning architecture of the Nave, including its unique sixteenth century Irish oak ceiling, provide an unrivalled concert venue in Wales.
