The London Central Mosque also known as The Regents Park Mosque has become a familiar, dramatic feature of the London skyline since the Islamic cultural centre was established in 1944, with the final completion of the Mosque in 1977. One of the finest examples in the whole of the UK, designed by English architect Frederick Gibberd.
His Majesty King George VI presented the masjid as an unconditional gift from the British Government to the UK Muslim Community, to celebrate their faith and to establish an Islamic Cultural Centre, with a new educational and administrative wing added in 1994.
The Centre is a focal point for Muslims, offering daily salah alongside various different services, including education, wedding hall hires, conferences, fayres and counselling. The mosque is open for visitors anytime the mosque is open. Guided tours are given regularly (especially to school groups), and can be arranged by appointment.
