Set in 175 acres of parkland and boasting 21 buildings of historical importance the Royal Gunpowder Mills mixes fascinating history, exciting science and beautiful surrounding.

There is plenty to keep kids amused with an interactive exhibition, a recreation of a shops and rooms from 'London in the Blitz' including a kitchen, Post Office and General Store and toyshop. Activities include a self guided nature walk with children's activity sheet, a wildlife watchtower and for a small additional charge, a guided land train tour. Visitors are free to explore a large area of the site unguided.

The attraction boasts an extensive special events programme with living history and battle re-enactments from many periods. Popular events include the VE Day weekend with Spitfire aerobatic display, Military Vehicle Show and Steam Fair. We also offer a variety of family activity events including Home Front, Victoriana and the popular Gunpowder, Treason and Plot weekend.

Opening Times: Open at weekends and Bank Holiday Mondays from May to September. Group visits on weekdays and during the closes season by prior arrangement. Corporate bookings taken for our theatre and meeting room facilities taken year round.
