Recently refurbished and under enthusiastic new ownership, The Hole in the Wall in Bath has a new lighter feel, while retaining the ambience in which some of the country's finest chefs have learned their trade.
The kitchen is now under the guidance of executive chef Gerry Dowd, who's worked with the Roux brothers at The Waterside Inn in Bray, Peter Chandler at Paris House, John Burton-Race at L'Ortalan, and Richard Shepherd at Odin's. Gerry has created a menu offering modern British dining, strongly themed on West Country produce. Everything is made on site, including breads, ice creams, a constantly changing set lunch menu and an evening menu. The Hole in the Wall aims to become a much-visited, friendly local restaurant, as well as one for special occasions.
A carefully created wine list comes courtesy of Guy Adams, managing director of local independent wine merchant Heritage Wine. You can choose from over 70 wines, and numerous wines by the glass, from all areas of the globe.
