Local Area: Epperstone village, half-a-mile "down the lane", holds conservation status; here traditional buildings are a feature and include a free-standing 17th century dovecote opposite the Cross Keys public house. The Garden Festival, held in June, provides a perfect opportunity to visit a large number of private gardens, browse the stalls and enjoy a cream tea in idyllic surroundings
