The Flushing Inn situated in the historic town of Rye, East Sussex is a family restaurant that has been owned by the Flynn/Mann family since 1960. The Flushing Inn is a restaurant specialising in seafood from seas & rivers: fish, crustaceans & molluscs.
The Flushing family would be delighted to arrange a private dinner in the form of a Gastronomic Evening, consisting of a Six Course Dinner, Wines and Coffee. These evenings would require a minimum of Eight (8) people.
The most likely explanation for the pubs name is that the street outside the Flushing, known now as Market Street, was originally known as "The Butchery". The old English name for a butcher was a "flesher" so it may be that it was originally known as Fleshers Inn and over time became corrupted to Flushing Inn.
