The Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford is an award-winning attraction. The Museum, one of the UK's leading historic aviation centre's, houses more than 70 aircraft, including British, American, German and Japanese exhibits.
From the early days of aviation through two World Wars to the present day, the story of man's successes and failures in flying and missile development is told in vivid and exciting displays covering war planes, civil aviation and the development of guided missiles and jet aircraft.
From February 2007, the Museum will see the opening of the new National Cold War Exhibition, a £12.5 million purpose built exhibition. A major feature of this unique exhibition will be Britain's three post-war V-bombers: Vulcan, Victor and Valiant, as well as aircraft involved in the Berlin airlift. Warsaw Pact and American aircraft will also be represented. A number of aircraft will be suspended in a flying attitude, including a Dakota, Canberra, Meteor, Lightning and MiG-21. Visitors will be able to view them from an elevated gallery.
The interactive section gives visitors an insight into the theory and practicality of taking to the air. The visitor centre includes a restaurant and souvenir shop.
