Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery first opened its doors 120 years ago beneath the clock tower on Chamberlain Square. Since those days BM&AG has gone from strength to strength and is now home to artworks and artefacts that are the envy of the world.

The museum is particularly admired for its Pre-Raphaelite paintings and drawings - the museum boasts the largest collection in the world. There are also bronze Buddhas and Egyptian Mummies residing within this diverse and fascinating place.

More than half a million objects fill the cabinets and walls of Birmingham museum. Here you will find everything from Renaissance masterpieces to 9,000-year-old Middle-Eastern treasures. There is a year-round programme of activities and temporary exhibitions. Recent events include family storytelling and a puppet-making workshop.
