Edgbaston Reservoir is situated close to the city centre and is a Site of natural importance. The 70 acre site is mainly open water and supports a variety of birdlife; it is also a valuable city site for animals such as newts and bats. A belt of woodland and grassland encircles the reservoir providing an oasis of natural beauty in an urban setting.
A wide range of walks and talks for community groups can be provided and walkers, families and joggers can enjoy the approximately 2.8 km (1.75 miles) path around the reservoir. There is also a private rowing club, sailing club, canoeing club and windsurfing centre. Tuition and lessons must be arranged before hand.
Events are primarily for individuals and family groups. An adult must accompany children at all times. Organised parties, i.e. school groups or playgroups, are required to contact the establishment prior to their visit to check on the suitability of an event. It may be possible to organise a separate event for a larger group. Events may be subject to change, and therefore it is recommend you telephone in advance for confirmation.
