Balmoral Castle

Purchased by Queen Victoria in 1848, Balmoral Castle on the Balmoral Estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland is the private residence of The Queen. Balmoral Castle has remained a favourite residence for The Queen and her family during the summer holiday period in August and September.

The Estate grounds, gardens and the Castle Ballroom are open to visitors from the beginning of April to the end of July each year. experienced and knowledgeable staff provide guided tours of the Queen's buildings, grounds, gardens and exhibitions, pointing out the monuments and detailing their history. The magnificent formal gardens, covering some three acres, also contain a range of Victorian glasshouses and the conservatory. There are a number of self catering holiday cottages situated in the beautiful Castle grounds, details of which are available on the Balmoral Castle website. Balmoral Estate has a cafeteria, and a wealth of activites are available including free trailer rides, art exhibitions, walks, Luxury Landrover Safari, car rallies, Salmon fishing and much, much more.
