The Grassic Gibbon Centre is devoted to the life and times of Lewis Grassic Gibbon who grew up in Arbuthnott, Kincardineshire, and was later to become one of the outstanding figures in Scottish literature, word famous as the author of the trilogy of novels known as "A Scots Quair". The centre is located in the heart of the Mearns countryside which fired Mitchell's imagination and inspired his best writing.
The museum comprises an exhibition of the author's writings and possessions. There is a cafe serving light meals and refreshments throughout the day, and a well stocked shop that sells books, audio tapes and other souvenirs.
The Grassic Gibbon Centre is located in north-east Scotland, 2 hours north of Edinburgh and 1/2 hour south of Aberdeen.
