The Guatemalan Maya Centre operates as a small cultural and educational centre dedicated to the Maya of Guatemala, which comprises of an exhibition gallery with annual exhibits and a craft shop, the centre is free to enter.
The centre runs a diverse programme of topical films and lectures, with more specialised facilities for students and academics, with access to study facilities for members only including an extensive reference library with books and videos.
The textile collection is one of the largest of its kind and highlights the trends in costume from the turn of the century to the present day. The majority of the exhibition space is dedicated to vibrant tableaux, demonstrating the daily life and dress of Maya Indians.
The centre is a non-profit organization and the craft shop stocks a range of Guatemalan handicrafts sourced from families, co-operatives and various highland markets.
