The 11th century castle overlooks the River Swale and holds an impressive history having been constructed as part of the Norman Conquest. The castle was also used extensively during the First and Second World War.
Now Richmond Castle is looked after by the English Heritage and is open seven days a week during the summer months. Visitors are able to explore the castle's past in an exciting exhibition, 'Castle, Commerce and Conscience'.
