Peat Moors Centre

A visit to the Peat Moors Centre in Glastonbury proves that it is the perfect place to fire the imagination of both young and old. Travel back in time to prehistoric Somerset and discover first hand how our ancient ancestors made their homes in the centre of an extensive wetland.

In 2004 the Peat Moors Centre was completely remodelled. During the course of the season we built a new full size reconstruction of an Iron Age roundhouse, incorporating the latest research. This additional house is an exciting compliment to the two existing reconstructions of roundhouses from Glastonbury Lake Village.

Life in the Lake Villages has been described as 'industrious and fairly civilised' and you can experience this for yourself as you soak up the domestic atmosphere sitting by the roundhouse fire.
