The Glastonbury Assembly Rooms are a sacred space. While compared to the Abbey, which is on the other side of our back wall, the Assembly Rooms is rather new (built in the mid 19th Century). But it has been used over the years as a center for the alternative spirit of Glastonbury. The interior of the big room is a phi rectangle, and various dowsers have confirmed that the Earth Energies are there as well.
Many people can vouch for their experiences in these Rooms have been on a high spiritual level, and while the Rooms are open to all kinds of community activities, it is the experience of the sacred that we want to promote here. Many different events are offered for the spiritual traveller. It is a place of Celebration of the Yearly Cycle of Quarter and Cross Quarter Day Celebrations.
It is envisaged that the Assembly Rooms will develop its own rhythm of celebration. Building on the custom in the Assembly Rooms, we will regularly celebrate the ancient natural festivals of the summer and winter solstices, the spring and autumn equinoxes, and the four cross quarter days. We will encourage people of all faiths and spiritual paths to use the Assembly Rooms' facilities for meetings, meditations and celebrations. Here the many strands of our different paths can meet. Together we can re-create the building as a truly sacred place.
