West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village is a unique reconstruction of a historical village, built on an original settlement site. It gives visitors the opportunity to touch and experience Anglo-Saxon houses as we imagine them to have been.
The original settlement was occupied around AD 450 - 650, settlers arriving along the river Lark, which still runs through the 125 acre Country Park in which the village is set. West Stow is one of only a few Anglo-Saxon villages that have been fully excavated and extensively studied.
Visitors can see the original objects that made up day to day living at West Stow as finds from the sites excavations, are displayed and interpreted in a specially built Anglo-Saxon Centre. The Centre, and the rare and beautiful objects it contains, completes the pictured painted by the reconstructed village, allowing us a glimpse of what life may have been like in this fascinating period of history.
