Ickworth is an 18th-century parkland that consists of 1,800 acres of wooded parkland, rich with animal, and bird life.
The eccentric 4th Earl of Bristol, created an eccentric house in 1795, inspired by the classical buildings he saw on his travels in Italy. Today the house contains important collections of paintings (including works by Titian, Gainsborough and Velasquez), Georgian silver and Regency furniture.
An Italianate garden lies to the south of the house, set in magnificent 'Capability' Brown parkland. There are also way marked woodland walks, a vineyard, garden walks, a Georgian summerhouse, church, canal and lake.
There are visitor facilities in West Wing that include a reception & interpretation area, shop, restaurant, learning room and WCs. Also available are extensive new conferencing, banqueting and wedding facilities.
