Golden Mount Historic Railway is home to the Hunslett Locomotive which has been preserved and restored by the Golden Mount Rail Preservation Society. The Locomotive is historically significant since it is one of the few surviving members of a fleet of numerous industrial locomotives which worked in the Mount Morgan Mine. It was used until around 1947 when motor trucks took over these tasks.
The fully restored 1904 Hunslett Steam Locomotive is the only operational Steam Loco in Central Queensland and is very popular with visitors to the region.
The Steam Loco runs Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and on the off days, we run a Fettlers Trolley which visitors also find very exciting. Being a preservation society, there is lots of memorabilia in and around the Railway Complex which also creates a lot of interest.
