Located on the Esplanade in St Kilda, the Sea Baths are a great place to unwind with a cool dip or a glass of wine, or to rev up in the state-of-the-art gym. Only 6km from the CBD, the St Kilda Sea Baths are unlike any other place in Melbourne. The Mediterranean style architecture contributes to the nostalgic atmosphere of the 1850s.

The baths is home to South Pacific Health Club which runs the 25m heated indoor seawater pool, gym and spa. The complex has cafes, gyms, an ice creamery, upmarket seafood restaurant, and a bakery. Soulmama, the world's largest vegetarian restaurant, is also located at the popular Sea Baths.

Today, the St Kilda Sea Baths are popular with locals and tourists alike. Whether it be to work out, to relax in the sun, take a sunset stroll or have a romantic dinner, the Sea Baths are a Melbourne institution.

History
The St Kilda Sea Baths have been running since the 1850s, when sea bathing first became acceptable and became recognised for its health-giving properties. The women's section was built to protect females from exposure to naked men bathing and predatory marine animals. In 1938 'mixed' bathing of both sexes, legal since 1927, was restricted to weekends and only in the ladies' section. However, during World War II relaxed moral standards allowed nude sunbathing.
