Greenwich Park enjoys panoramic views across the River Thames and houses a small herd of fallow and red deer, alongside foxes and birds inside its 183 acres. The park is part of the Greenwich World Heritage Site, host to the Prime Meridian Line and the old Royal Observatory and Planetarium (open by appointment only) and the National Maritime Museum is its neighbour.
Events in the park include guided walks and practical demonstrations on how to prune roses and how to make Christmas decorations. The park has a range of sporting facilities including a tennis centre, putting green and facilities for cricket and rugby. There are designated cycle paths and the park is used extensively by joggers, walkers and people who enjoy some informal sporting fun.
Al fresco dining is available in the newly landscaped garden at the Pavilion Tea House and you can enjoy a range of hot and cold snacks in the Saint Mary's Gate Café. Sunday concerts take place at the bandstand during the summer and puppet shows and workshops are held by the children's playground during the summer school holidays.
