The Lavender Line is part of the former Lewes to Uckfield Railway opened on 18th October 1858. Isfield station has now been restored to early Southern Railway colours and looks very much as it would have done in the 1920's and 30's. The track has been extensively overhauled and modified since the society took over and the line has recently been extended to one mile.
The line heads northwards towards Little Horsted where the train pauses before returning to Isfield. There is no station at Little Horsted and train rides normally last about 15 minutes per trip with trains leaving every half hour. On board facilities include a Buffet serving a wide range of hot and cold meals plus teas and snacks and famous breakfasts on Sundays. The facility can also be hired for private events. There is also a Gift Shop and a visitor's picnic area that has tables and seating alongside the line where you can enjoy your own food and watch the trains coming and going.
Wine and Dine trains run on advertised dates throughout the year. Arrive from 7.30pm to receive your complimentary aperitif before departure of train at 8.00pm. Meals are served on the train with a choice of wines and other drinks are available from the bar whilst you gently ride through the Sussex countryside.
