Based in Mourne Country we have the Mourne Mountains on our doorstep to discover on foot and an expanse of coastal and rural roads to explore by bike. Further north, Fair Head and the Giants Causeway offer stunning coastal cliff scenery.
The Mourne Mountain range is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and will not disappoint visitors interested in the natural environment, built heritage and wonderful scenery. Dry stone walls are a common feature of the area. Slieve Donard, the highest peak in Northern Ireland, stands prominent, towering over Newcastle Bay. After the hike it is always pleasant to relax in one of the cafes or bars.
County Down has a vast network of quiet minor roads which allows for a wide variety of cycling routes from easy grades along the coast to the more challenging High Mountain Circuit. Cycling is an ideal way of exploring the history of the area as well as enjoying the scenery on offer.
