The Stone Boat Restaurant is named after the small commercial sailing ships which used the harbour to load up granite squares, sets and curls, which paved the streets of Belfast, London and Liverpool in the last century.

The boats were named by the locals as 'Stone Boats'. The boats also brought coal to Newcastle and exported potatoes from Newcastle. The stones were cut and shaped on Milestone Mountain and came down to the harbour in 'Bogie Cars' on rail tracks, they were then stored on the quay and waited to be shipped by the Stone Boats. When fully laden Bogies came down the mountain they pulled the empty bogie cars back up again to the quarry. To this day the bank in front of the Harbour House Inn and up to King Street is still known as the Bogie Hill, which can be seen in the wall mural in the restaurant.

At the StoneBoat Restaurant we provide a wide range of local Irish Seafood, great Steaks and Vegetarian menus.
