Nanteos Mansion is a beautiful Grade I listed, early Georgian country house that sits in stunning private grounds just outside Aberystwyth. William Powell first built the house in 1738, and it remained the Powell family home for over 200 years. Although over the years some things have been changed and added, the kitchen and first floor remain unchanged and still in period detail.
The mansion is also known to be home to a number of ghosts including the spirit of Elizabeth Powell, the late wife of William Powell, a phantom horse and carriage that pulls up to the entrance in the night and the ghost of harpist Gruffydd Evan, who played for the Powell family every Christmas for 69 years, his music can still be heard in the woods around the house.
Nanteos is the ideal setting for a romantic weekend for two, or simply just as a base for a exploring the area. The five luxurious rooms are decorated to a high standard, all come complete with en suite.
The mansion would be the ideal place to hold your wedding; the owners hold a marriage licence. Weddings usually take place in the magnificent Music room, which is considered as one of the finest 18th century rooms in Wales.
