Fittingly, Heronswood, the home of seed suppliers The Diggers Club, is surrounded by 1.6ha of magnificent gardens.

Overlooking Port Phillip at Dromana, this historic bluestone property is also research centre for plants and organic gardening methods.

The homestead is open to the public on certain weekends and public holidays, and the garden is open all year except for three days around Christmas.

Entry to the gardens is $10 for adults. Children and members free. Stop by at Australia's only thatched-roof cafe for refreshments and browse through the excellent nursery bookshop.
