These buildings, close by the historic Rocks area, date from 1815 when Governor Macquarie selected the site for a military hospital.
From 1850 to 1974 the property served as a government school, for most of that time as Fort Street School, one of the State's leading educational institutions.
The National Trust Centre's historic buildings house the S. H. Ervin Gallery, showing changing art exhibitions on Australian themes and National Trust Cafe. The Gallery is also available for function hire.
