This ten-hectare grazing property established in the 1830s includes twenty buildings dating from the 1860s to 1910. Visitor to Saumarez can see a rural property little changed from the time when there was a workforce of many families whose skills made the homestead almost self-sufficient.

Take a guided tour through the White family's thirty room Edwardian mansion complete with its original furnishings. Stroll through Mary White's charming garden, the picking garden and the expansive lawns.

Explore the farm area with the Thomas House and its interpretative display, the stables, the poultry yard, the slaughterhouse and other old timber buildings. Guided tours for casual visitors and bus tours by appointment. The Saumarez Centre is popular for weddings, celebrations, small conferences and meetings. Lunch and other refreshments can be booked. Café. National Trust Gift Shop. Parking. Open Daily 10am-4pm. Closed from mid-June to 1 September.

What a treat it was to visit this old homestead and the gardens. We had no idea that the house would be so intact with its furniture, carpets, ornaments in fact everything that the White family owned.
