Nestled in the north eastern section of the Avon Valley area, Goomalling is a 90 minute drive from Perth via either Northam or Toodyay. The museum was once the Konnongorring School, a one teacher school, typical of the schools which serviced localised population between the years 1900 and 1940. Such schools were moved to another location when no longer required at their existing site.

The school room has been restored and furnished to typify the rural and isolated schools which were scattered throughout country districts, and now acts as the Goomalling Museum with a rare windmill display and old machinery display.
